TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS*
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Organize your notebook. SEE NOTEBOOK STRUCTURE CHART (on blog). AS INDICATED IN CLASS THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY #1!
II. Review all Unit Lesson notes (i.e. Vocabulary Development and Comprehension, Literary Analysis Writing, Non-Fiction Analysis, Poetry Analysis, Prose Fiction Analysis, and Annotation Process); informal (or formal) assessments will be conducted daily.

The website for the first link enables you to send me a copy of your test and answers. After you have completed a self-test send me a report...I would like to see your progress. DUE DAILY
IV. Work on obtaining research materials for your Shakespeare Background Project; prepare to come in and work on the project at the start of the class period. The visual lesson MUST be completed and presented on the next meeting or the group will forfeit the points.
V. Read the Shakespeare article (the big "A" article) and the Diane Ackerman article ("The Natural History of Love"); make annotation notes...look for things that you find interesting.
VI. Visit Evernote and download the SAT Vocabulary List 7 Quick Review Assignment; once you have downloaded the sheet, print it, and complete the assignment. This assignment is DUE 4/24 [A], 4/25 [B].
VII. If you are in the Poetry Recitation Project Tournament, you should use this weekend (and every day) as an opportunity to review your poem. You will be reciting the same piece that you recited in the graded recitation phase of the project. The tournament begins next!

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LIST 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7) You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
-suffix endings and roots
-context clue types
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post.
To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards or Extended Definition assignment.
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary terms. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms.
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the rules of grammar. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all rules.
IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes copies of literary works studied, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
