II. Read ‘Before You Read: The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet’ (page 579 in textbook); use this as a warm-up to our active reading of the text. REVIEW BY 4/29 [A], 4/30 [B]

Please review the sections labeled ‘Reading Focus’ and ‘Building Background’ before returning to class. This is the precursor (def?) to your study of the play. You are not required to ‘take notes’ while reading this information, but you should review the information carefully.

III. BRING TEXTBOOK TO CLASS! OUR ROMEO AND JULIET STUDY REQUIRES YOUR BOOK. NO BOOK = NO READING PART = LOSS OF POINTS…

FYI: You may want to take a look at the Dramatis Personae (i.e. the characters) on page 581 since you will be taking the part of many of these characters during our active reading sessions. Also, we will be reading and studying the Act I Prologue (page 582) so you may wish to review it too.

An Elizabethan Language exercise will serve as our R&J Active Reading Warm-up...so get ready!
