TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Organize your notebooks...it has been a WHOLE semester since the first day of school. This means you should have had enough time to get things in order....BE PREPARED!!! Use the Notebook Structure Chart.
II. Prepare for the ACTIVE GROUP DISCUSSION for 'I Want to Die in My Own Bed' by Yehuda Amichai. This discussion will take place in-class next meeting. Review your notes before the next class meeting. DEADLINE is 3/27 [A], 4/7 [B]
III. Add your PERSONAL RESPONSE for 'I Want to Die in My Own Bed' by Yehuda Amichai to www.turnitin.com. DEADLINE FOR BOTH CLASSES is 3/27/08
IV. Memorize your RECITATION PROJECT POEM. Do not wait until the last minute. DUE 4/8 [A], 4/9 [B]
V. Bring your WRITING JOURNAL to class for the start of the poetry unit. Point penalties will be given if journal is not in class at start of class. DEADLINE IS EVERYDAY!!!
VI. Study and review the POETRY MINI-LESSON NOTES and handouts. Learn the concepts NOW so YOU are not left behind. TEST THIS WEEK!!!!!!! For a sneak peek at the test items go to this BULLETIN.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6). You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of prose fiction and the rhetorical devices/modes of development. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.
IV. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
