DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
1. Bring Materials/Supplies to class. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
2. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.

TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Use the prescribed type specifications to complete the following writing assignment:
WARM-UP ASSIGNMENT: Personal Goals Objective Summary (1st Quarter)
Pre-AP English I/KNIGHT
MATERIALS: Notebook paper (DO NOT WRITE IN JOURNAL), pencil, and dictionary.
OBJECTIVE: Students should be able to successfully create a well written, well organized, and well edited paper.
STANDARDS: JW1, 2, 3 TIME: 15 minutes
TASK: Using a blank sheet of paper you will write a detailed Personal Goals Objective Summary for the 1st Quarter for this class. The summary must be no less than 150 words (you may exceed this if you wish…the typed copy will be ONE FULL PAGE). Please write legibly (USE PENCIL). You will have only 15 minutes to complete.
WRITING RULES: Your summary MUST discuss/include the following:
1. Discussion of your academic strengths and weaknesses and how you intend to improve/maintain them.
2. Achievable goals, as well as some evidence of a plan that you will use in order to accomplish them.
3. Show genuine, sincere evidence of your attempt to achieve an academic goal.
FOLLOW-UP HOMEWORK: Type your detailed Personal Goals Objective Summary for the 1st Quarter. The summary must be no less than ONE FULL PAGE (you may exceed this if you wish). Please use 12 point Times New Roman font and double space. Follow the above stated writing rules.
After typing the summary, please have your parents/guardians read, sign and date the summary before you return to class.

3. Begin working on the SAT Vocabulary List #1 Extended Definition Assignment.
SAT VOCABULARY LIST 1 EXTENDED DEFINITION ASSIGNMENT
Pre-AP English I / KNIGHT
This is the first list of SAT vocabulary terms that we will be studying. The posting of this list is primarily for those students who tend to want to get an early start on assignments. The defining of the terms should be conducted similar to what we have done in the past.
THIS ASSIGNMENT IS NOT DUE NEXT MEETING!!! I WILL NOT CHECK/COLLECT UNTIL 8/28 [A], 8/29 [B]

Here is the format:
1. VOCABULARY WORD
a. definition
b. part of speech (with root suffix ending)
c. related forms (at least 3; include part of speech and underline root suffix)
d. synonyms (at least 3)
e. antonyms (at least 3)
f. context clue style sentence (underline context clue, place word in parentheses)
Example:

*NOTE: Though this process may see a bit labor-intensive, it does provide you with the basics for a good, accurate study of the vocabulary terms. IT DOES HELP...TRY IT!!!
