The seminar will be a student led/teacher directed discussion of the short story. You will be graded/evaluated/observed based on the following rubric:

1. Participation [PT]: this score will be based on not how frequently you participate, but the quality of your participation. That means, if you simply raise your hand and ask an irrelevant question you will not acquire any credit. Your questions/comments must be of both substance and value. IF YOU SAY NOTHING or DO NOTHING (i.e. daydream, fail to take notes, exhibit off task behavior, etc.) DURING THE DISCUSSION YOU WILL SCORE AN F (no exceptions). Value: 25 points

2. Preparedness [PR]: this score will be based on how prepare you are for the discussion. I will be looking for assigned materials (rubrics, annotations, study aids/notes, paper, textbook, pencils, etc.) In order to be an active participant in the discussion, you MUST have the materials to achieve that goal. This section also includes whether or not you have the content knowledge to participate/contribute to the discussion. Value: 25 points
