TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS*
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Obtain a copy of Ender's Game (Card); read and annotate the text at your own pace. If you have a digital copy of the text I strongly urge you to make annotation notes on sheets of paper. This text is a part of our science fiction study. There will be a reading and analysis test later. Chapters 4-8 DUE 3/4/14
II. Complete these Fahrenheit 451 analysis project related assignments:
a. Research the F451 allusions (see the list of allusions); find out information on the allusions…you will need to include the allusions in your analysis project. DUE NOW
b. Make contact with your group through Schoology regarding your analysis project. Communications is key. DUE NOW
c. Complete any work assigned within the group. I will be monitoring the number of contributions made by each member of the group. DUE 2/26/14
d. Type and expand the written response to Journal Topic #2 for Fahrenheit 451. Today you wrote the rough draft in your journal, now you need to type and expand your draft. PLEASE REVIEW THE WRITING RULES ON THE FORMAT GUIDE (see Schoology). Submit a printed copy and an electronic copy on 2/26/14 (ICC/TIINC)

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (Lists 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) You should review the following items:
*word definitions
*part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
*related forms (family words)
*synonyms and antonyms
*notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
*suffix endings and roots
*context clue types
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post.
To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards or Extended Definition assignment.
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary terms. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms.
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the rules of grammar. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all rules.
IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes copies of literary works studied, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
