TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS*
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Organize your notebook. SEE NOTEBOOK STRUCTURE CHART (on blog). AS INDICATED IN CLASS THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY #1!
II. Review all Unit Lesson notes (i.e. Vocabulary Development and Comprehension, Literary Analysis Writing, Non-Fiction Analysis, Prose Fiction Analysis, and Annotation Process); informal (or formal) assessments will be conducted daily.

IV. Visit the Reading Comprehension Practice sites linked to our blog. These are practice sites that we will be using to hone your skills in preparation for the FCAT.
Visit the FCAT Explorer website and complete the assigned Reading Comprehension sections. Go to Evernote and download (and print) a copy of the assignment.
The DUE DATES are posted in the UPCOMING DATES section below.
V. Revisit the Bradbury texts (e.g. "A Sound of Thunder" and "There will Come Soft Rains"); identify the assigned literary concepts, expand your notes beyond the literal level, and show your work on the copy of the text. DO YOUR OWN ANALYSIS...DO NOT USE OUTSIDE RESOURCES. Prepare for our discussion.
VI. Read the lecture notes on Ray Bradbury Prepare to discuss these notes in class as part of the Analysis Discussion Seminar.
VII. Review the SAT Vocabulary List 5 terms; prepare to review terms in our upcoming class session. You can visit Evernote to download (and print) a copy of the format guide sheet for the SAT List 5 Extended Definition Assignment. The DUE DATE for this assignment 2/7 [A], 2/8 [B]

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LIST 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
-suffix endings and roots
-context clue types
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post.
To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards or Extended Definition assignment.
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary terms. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms.
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the rules of grammar. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all rules.
IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes copies of literary works studied, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
