I. Organize your notebook. SEE NOTEBOOK STRUCTURE CHART (on blog). AS INDICATED IN CLASS THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY #1!
II. Review your Drama Unit Introduction Notes; review the stages of Shakespeare's career (stages, dates, characteristics, notable plays), the Elizabethan era (dates, tastes, attitudes), and Romeo and Juliet (dates, themes, symbols, etc.)
The assessment of this information will include all discussed concepts AND concepts included in supplemental handouts.
III. Read and annotate Romeo and Juliet (whole play...read ahead); use the clean copy distributed in class or the online textbook (see post labeled BULLETIN: Online Glencoe Textbook or click on the link to access the site). Prepare for in-class reading and analysis by completing at-home prep work. DUE EACH CLASS MEETING
IV. Work on the Romeo and Juliet Analysis Questions Assignment; build your assignment each day. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE...THERE IS NO EXTENSION.
V. If you received a character assignment please access the play here and study your lines. Doing this will make our in-class reading sessions fun and quick. Use your annotation skills to dissect the verses...be prepared to be the character! DUE NEXT CLASS MEETING

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 5, 6, 7 and 8) You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post.
To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards or Extended Definition assignment.
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary terms. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms.
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the rules of grammar. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all rules.
IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes copies of literary works studied, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
