II. Prepare for the Unit Lesson on Poetry ('Poetry is Life: Discovering Poetry'); visit any reputable poetry website and find your favorite poem. Copy and paste the poem in the correct format. Print your poem and bring it to class for possible use in the discussion. DUE 2/27 [A], 2/28 [B]
III. Review the SAT suffix endings.
IV. 1A and 4A ONLY: Complete the Peer Evaluation Assignment for the Fahrenheit 451 Literary Analysis Essay. WARNING: DO NOT LOSE OR MISTREAT THE PEER WRITER'S PAPER. Refer to the assignment sheet that was distributed in class. Complete Section II (the Peer Evaluation Report) at home and respond to the questions on a sheet of notebook paper...you may type the report. If you elect to type your Peer Evaluation Notes (i.e. the responses to the 15 questions) please use these typing specifications:
1. Use 11-12 point Ariel, Times New Roman, or Calibri font.
2. Use this heading (bold and underlined): WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Student Peer Evaluation
3. Double space ONLY the responses to the 15 questions.
4. If you wish to add the questions to your typed draft you may access the PDF version of the assignment on the blog.
V. Participate in the THE PULSE poll on the elements of poetry. Complete the poll before the Unit Introduction to Poetry next week.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LIST 5) You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post.
To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards or Extended Definition assignment.
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary terms. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms.
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the rules of grammar. Students will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all rules.
IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes copies of literary works studied, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
