BULLETIN: English Honors I Final Exam Review

TASK: Using your knowledge of 2nd Semester concepts you will complete the final summative assessment. You must select the best response to each item and place your answer on a provided Scantron. YOU MAY WRITE ON THE ASSESSMENT.

OBJECTIVE: Students should be able to effectively demonstrate their knowledge of 2nd Semester concepts. They should be able to answer at least 70% of the items correctly (70 of the 100 items).

EVALUATION: This assessment will be graded. This score will be included as points earned. You will be awarded 1 point for each correct answer. This score WILL NOT be included as a part of your 4th Quarter grade.

MATERIALS: pencil, blank paper (to cover work) and Scantron.

TIME TO COMPLETE: You will be given the whole class meeting. Get to class on time, set up, and prepare to begin when the bell rings.

WHAT TO EXPECT: This is a breakdown of the 2nd Semester Summative Assessment:

Part One—List 5, 6, 7, & 8 Vocabulary
There are 17 questions in this section. Each question is a fill in the blank sentence—you will need to choose the word from the word bank that best completes the sentence. If an alternate form of the word is necessary, it will be in the word bank. Words from the word bank will not be used more than once.

Part Two-- Proofreading
There are 11 questions in this section. Each question is a sentence which you must read and then determine what type of error, if any, is present in the sentence. These questions are multiple choice.

Part Three—Literary Terms
There are 16 multiple choice questions in this section. The terms are from the fiction, poetry and drama terms lists. The questions will be both definitions and identifications of examples.

Part Four—Analysis of Literature and Poetry
There are 20 multiple choice questions in this section. You will need to read the passages and poems provided and then answer analysis questions.

Part Five—Fahrenheit 451
There are 20 multiple choice questions in this section—10 of these are quote identification and 10 are multiple choice analysis questions.

Part Six—Romeo and Juliet
There are 16 multiple choice questions in this section—7 are quote identifications and 9 are analysis questions.
