(4) IDENTIFYING NON-FICTION DEVICES ASSIGNMENT. Complete this assignment by identifying the non-fiction terms and modes of development in seven assigned passages. This is an in-class assignment that will be taken home for completion.

(5) PASSAGE ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT. Complete the following writing assignments for the from All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes Passage Analysis Assignment:
a. Compose a MULTIPLE-LEVEL COMMENTARY PLAN (100%). You should be able to demonstrate your knowledge of a literary passage analysis, the multiple levels of thought, prose literature terms, and your ability to type a complete a thorough (detailed) Multiple Levels of Commentary Plan using the appropriate format.
b. Compose a ROUGH DRAFT (100%).You should show evidence that you wrote a thorough (detailed) rough draft literary passage analysis paper using the appropriate format. This written draft needs to correspond in part with the format guide sheet. Proofreading evidence should be present.
c. Type a FINAL DRAFT (100%). You should show evidence that you revised, expanded and typed a thorough (detailed) final draft literary passage analysis paper using the appropriate format. This typed draft needs to correspond in whole with the format guide sheet. Proofreading evidence should be present.
d. Submit a copy of the final paper to http://www.turnitin.com/.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 1, 2, and 3). You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of poetry and prose. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.
IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
