TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS

*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.

I. ASSIGNMENT: Organize your notebooks...it has been TWO GRADING QUARTERS since the first day of school. This means you should have had enough time to get things in order....BE PREPARED!!! Use the Notebook Structure Chart.

II. REMINDER: Read and review Course Syllabus and Course Orientation Notes. POP QUIZZES ARE STILL POSSIBLE!!!

Also, you are strenuously urged to learn the information that relates to this course (rules, policies, procedures, standards, etc.)...not knowing it WILL affect you throughout the school year.

III. REMINDER: Bring your copy of A SEPARATE PEACE and WRITING JOURNAL and ALL COURSE MATERIALS to class EVERYDAY!!! Point penalties will be given if materials are not in class each meeting.

IV. Add your A Separate Peace Study Question Assignment (Part 2) to http://www.turnitin.com/. This assignment is worth 25 points.

V. Review Proofreading Rules (see Notebook Grammar Book).

VI. Begin working on FCAT Explorer 10th Grade Reading Benchmark Assignments. Use the log-in information given to you in class and visit http://www.fcatexplorer.com/.

All activities and items must be completed by 3/4 [A], 3/5 [B]. A completion score will be given. Please do not focus on the speed with which you complete the activity, but rather the quality!

VII. Compose (this means type) your A Separate Peace Passage Commentary #1 Assignment. If you did not finish writing your rough draft...please finish it BEFORE you begin typing.

You should have the following completed before the submission date:

1. Multi-Level Plan
2. Written Rough Draft
3. Typed Draft

Please use the rubric and type specifications...do not forfeit points by not reading the rubric!

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS

*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.

I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LIST 5). You should review the following items:

-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.

In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]

II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of prose fiction. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]

III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.

IV. Bring materials/supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.

VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
