HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS (AS OF 2/29 [A], 3/3 [B])

TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS

*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.

I. Organize your notebooks...it has been a WHOLE semester since the first day of school. This means you should have had enough time to get things in order....BE PREPARED!!! Use the Notebook Structure Chart.

II. Revise and type your A SEPARATE PEACE LITERARY ANALYSIS ESSAY Follow all guide sheet/rubric specs. DEADLINE is 3/4 [A], 3/5 [B]

III. Complete SAT VOCABULARY LIST 6 EXTENDED DEFINITION ASSIGNMENT. Follow all format rules and assignment directions to avoid losing points. DUE 3/6 [A], 3/7 [B]

IV. Complete the ACTIVE READING ASSIGNMENTS FOR 'Meeting at Night' by Robert Browning. ALL Assignments are due at deadline and are necessary for the in-class activity/discussion. Read ALL instructions to avoid massive point loss. DEADLINE is 3/6 [A], 3/7 [B] * THIS INCLUDES www.turnitin.com

V. Locate RECITATION PROJECT POEM. If your poem was denied. Poem must be formatted based on the model/guide sheet rules. If your poem has been approved START MEMORIZING IT. DUE 3/6 [A], 3/7 [B]

VI. Bring your WRITING JOURNAL to class for the start of the poetry unit. Point penalties will be given if journal is not in class at start of class. DEADLINE IS EVERYDAY!!!

VII. Study and review the POETRY MINI-LESSON NOTES and handouts. Learn the concepts NOW so YOU are not left behind.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS

*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.

I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6). You should review the following items:

-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.

In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]

II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of prose fiction and the rhetorical devices/modes of development. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]

III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.

IV. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.

VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
