TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Organize your notebooks...it has been more than NINE weeks since the first day of school. This means you should have had enough time to get things in order....BE PREPARED!!!
II. Read Chapters 1-13 from the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles. While reading, look for future assigned passages and use post-it-notes to annotate. Future Active Reading assignments and annotations will be assigned later.*
*NOTE: A PERSONAL copy of this book WAS DUE 1/7 [A], 1/10 [B]. A 5 point deduction will be issued for each day the student does not have a copy of this book. See UPCOMING DATES for whole book due date.
III. Go to http://www.fcatexplorer.com/ and begin working on the 10th Grade Reading Activities (all sections). For login help see the FCAT Explorer Login Instructions post. This assignment is DUE on 2/12 [A], 2/13 [B].

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 1, 2, 3, and 4). You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of prose fiction and the rhetorical devices/modes of development. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.
IV. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
