TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
I. Organize your notebooks...it has been more than NINE weeks since the first day of school. This means you should have had enough time to get things in order....BE PREPARED!!!
II. TYPE Annotation Assignment #1 for Night. Use the passages on the back of the guide sheet. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO COMPLETE. DUE 1/3 [A], 12/13 [B]*
*NOTE: This assignment MUST be completed as instructed. PLEASE follow all directions...NO latitude will be given for incomplete or weak responses.
III. Submit a copy of Annotation Assignment #1 for Night to http://www.turnitin.com/. This assignment should be posted no later than 1/3 [A], 12/13 [B]*
*NOTE: Failure to submit to the site will result in a lower grade.
IV. Obtain a copy of the novel Night by Elie Wiesel.*
*NOTE: The book WAS DUE 11/15 [A], 11/16 [B]. A 5 point deduction will be issued for each day the student does not have a copy of this book.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.
I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 1, 2, 3, and 4). You should review the following items:
-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]
II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of prose fiction and the rhetorical devices/modes of development. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]
III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.
IV. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
