TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS

*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.

I. Organize your notebooks...it has been more than NINE weeks since the first day of school. This means you should have had enough time to get things in order....BE PREPARED!!!

II. Complete the Holocaust Warm-up Assignments for Night. This includes completion of all tasks indicated on the purple sheet distributed in class. You may type the assignment if you wish. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO COMPLETE. DUE 11/26 [A], 11/27 [B]*

*NOTE: This assignment MUST be completed as instructed. PLEASE follow all directions...NO latitude will be given for incomplete or weak responses.

III. Complete the Extended Definition Assignment for the List #4 terms. (See post) DUE 11/28 [A], 11/29 [B]*

IV. Obtain a copy of the novel Night by Elie Weisel.*

*NOTE: The book WAS DUE 11/15 [A], 11/16 [B].

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS

*NOTE: These are assignments that you should be doing whether we have homework or not. There is a level of expectation that requires you as the student to claim some responsibility for your academic career.

I. Study/Review SAT Vocabulary Terms (LISTS 1, 2, and 3). You should review the following items:

-word definitions
-part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
-related forms (family words)
-synonyms and antonyms
-notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.

In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]

II. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements of prose fiction and the rhetorical devices/modes of development. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]

III. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the elements of grammar. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of all elements.

IV. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

V. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.

VI. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course standards. You will be expected to have adequate mastery and knowledge of all course standards.
