DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
1. Study SAT Vocabulary Terms (List 7). Students should review the following:
a. word definitions
b. part(s) of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs)
c. related forms (family words)
d. synonyms and antonyms
e. notes on how to distinguish the varied parts of speech.
In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [EV1]
2. Students should conduct a nightly/daily review of the literary elements for POETRY. Students will be expected to adequate mastery and knowledge of ALL terms. They should employ the same study method that is suggested for the SAT terms. STANDARD [ER2]
3. Bring Textbook to class...just because we don't use it, doesn't mean you may not need it!!!!
4. Refresh knowledge of the Literary Analysis Essay format. READ YOUR MATERIAL...
TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS
1. Complete the Elizabethean Language Assignment. Only complete the first exercise (translate the passage that appears on the back of the worksheet). DUE NEXT MEETING
2. Read the Shakespeare/Romeo and Juliet Lecture Notes. We will be moving quickly through the play, so if you don't want to 'be left behind' you should make this a PRIORITY.
3. Complete the Romeo and Juliet Warm-Up Assignment. Please write ALL responses on a sheet of paper (or type). DUE NEXT MEETING
4. Define all SAT List 8 terms. This is the final set of terms. You must complete the definition assignment in the same format as previous assignments. This is worth a total of 40 points. I will deduct points if you do not have all of the following items:
1. VOCABULARY WORD
a. definition
b. part of speech (with root suffix ending)
c. related forms (at least 3; include part of speech and underline root suffix)
d. synonyms (at least 3)
e. antonyms (at least 3)
f. context clue style sentence (underline context clue, place word in parentheses)
As mentioned in class, the final exam will cover ALL 160 studied vocabulary terms from the 2005-2006 school year. Please do not take this assignment lightly. DUE NEXT MEETING
